This was an amazing event, as well as getting to ride in the sutonomous car myself, we also had the pleasure of Kimi Kaikkonen driving!

Oxford Science Festival

The CDT in AIMS took part in the Oxford Science Festival on the 25th and 26th June.

The students presented demos of their work, with participants taking an active part in driving these demos and interacting with the intelligent systems presented.

“Can you beat the robot?”

Have you ever thought of yourself as humanity’s last chance? Want to test your skills battling a robot? The AIMS group at Oxford will be holding a tournament where you will get to test your wits against an (admittedly not too frightening) enemy robot by controlling one yourself. At the same time, you will be able to get to know the basic building blocks of robotics, namely vision, control, perception and planning.

“How can computers see?”

We humans have the ability to walk in to a room and see objects, recognise shapes and identify colours. It is an ability which is natural to us, but not to computers. How can we build machines that are able to see as we do, identify and understand as we do? How can we give computers perception and understanding?
